BIOX - CLEANING AGENT

Biox Liquid and Gel is used with the archaeological industry for the

cleaning of delicate metallic items to remove corrosion, mould, and

contaminates. Biox does not damage or erode metal or fabric

materials and the object to be cleaned can be handle while still in

the cleaning process due to Biox's excellent health and safety.
                  


Ideal on board recovery ships and museums for the immersing and gentle cleaning of precious items recovered. Biox works excellently on Gold, Silver and Bronze, removing verdigris, scale and sea life from valuable items.

 


Application - LIQUID

 

Remove all loose surface materials. Shake Biox container well before use. Very light rusting or tarnish is removed in minutes. Just immerse the article for 15 minutes and rinse off with water. For heavy rust and contaminant removal, immerse article in Biox liquid for anything up to 8 hours depending on degree to be removed.
 

Prolonged immersion in Biox can cause the colour of some steels to turn slightly darker. However this will not affect the strength of the metal. If rust or oxide is not completely removed, re-immerse in Biox.

Application - GEL

 

Biox Gel is widely used for cleaning Gilding safe to use with your hands and its gentle cleaning action does not harm the item being cleaned / restored.

 

Remove all loose surface materials. Shake Biox container well before use. Very light rusting or tarnish is removed in minutes. Just apply a generous layer (2 mm, 1/8") of Biox to the surface, leave for 15 minutes and wash off with water.

 

For heavier rust and oxide removal apply Biox and cover with plastic cling film or a polythene bag to retain the moisture. Biox works slowly and a period of 8 hours may be necessary. If extended treatment is required frequent inspection is recommended because Biox can cause the colour of some steels to turn slightly darker. Just wash off a section for inspection. If rust or oxide is not completely removed retreat with Biox.

 

Biox Liquid and Gel could be used on board recovery vessels where the cleaning/preservation process can start immediately.
