HARTOL LUX
Hard-drying wax oil
Oil for the protection and care of uncoated and oiled wood.
Very suitable for wooden working surfaces in kitchens, bathrooms, for the protection of tables, shelves, and other load-bearing pieces of furniture in interior spaces
Hartol Lux represents a balanced formula of natural oils, waxes, and resins. The coating is very resistant to water and other common household liquids.
Properly dried surfaces are suitable for contact with food and for coating children's toys. The oil meets EU standard EN 71, part 3, and standard DIN 53160. The product is compliant with the provisions of Article 1a, Article 3 of Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004, dated October 27, 2004, on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
Advantages
- Water and abrasion resistant
- Good stain resistance against wine, juice, tea, coffee
- Suitable for contact with food
- Suitable for coating children's toys
- Very efficient: 1 liter in a single layer covers 15-20 m², consumption heavily depends on the absorbency of the surface
Surface preparation before application
Wood must be suitably dry (moisture below 12%), and the surface must be clean, sanded, and dust-free. Suitable sanding fineness is 180 –240.
Oil application procedure
- Before use, shake the oil well in the original container. When applying and drying the oil, suitable temperatures are above 15 °C.
- Apply the oil to the surface with a cloth, brush, or sponge in a thin, even layer.
- Let it act for 20-30 minutes for the oil to soak in as deeply as possible into the wood.
- After this time, spread the oil on the more absorbent surfaces with a cloth and wipe off any excess oil. Lightly polish the surface with a cloth or polishing sponge to create a soft, slightly glossy silky surface.
- After 8-12 hours, apply a second layer of oil in the same manner. Depending on the absorbency of the surface, a third layer can be applied after 24 hours.
Drying
After 12 hours (20°C / 50-55 % relative humidity), the surface is dry to the touch and suitable for reapplication.
The surface can be fully loaded after 3-5 days.
Important
Test the absorbency of the surface and appearance after applying the oil first on a smaller area. After application and wiping, the oil must not remain on the surface in a thicker layer. Ensure adequate air circulation. Do not apply oil at temperatures below 15°C.
Safety
Due to the oxidative drying of oil, there is a danger of spontaneous combustion with oil-soaked cloths or sponges! Dispose of oil-soaked cloths in an airtight metal container or spread them on a non-flammable surface moistened with water to dry.
