COAT & SHINE friction polish 250 ml
Coat & Shine is a natural friction polish. It is easy to use on a lathe, but it can also be applied by hand—for example, on carved wooden products, wooden jewelry, etc. It adheres well to wood, stone, and plastic. Once completely dry, a surface coated with Coat & Shine is safe for food contact.
How to use:
-
Sand the surface to at least P400 or P600 grit; ideally up to P800.
-
Fine sanding after P600 can be done using Surfin polishing paste or the even finer Surfin X-Fine paste. This also helps to seal the pores in the surface. Using Surfin paste significantly reduces fine sanding time. Alternatively, the surface can be gradually sanded with sandpaper, mesh, or sponge up to P2000 grit. The smoother the surface, the higher the achievable shine.
-
Using a clean, lint-free cloth, lightly apply a thin layer of Coat & Shine while the lathe is stationary.
-
Turn on the lathe and polish the surface at 800 to 1000 RPM, or at a safe speed depending on the object's size and the type of lathe. Gradually increase pressure during polishing. A certain amount of pressure is necessary to properly melt the waxes and resins, ensuring the formation of a high-quality, uniform layer.
-
For manual application and polishing, be careful not to stop the polishing cloth or pad in one spot. Instead, move it toward and away from the surface at an angle similar to that of an airplane taking off or landing. If the cloth is stopped in one place, it will likely leave a visible mark on the surface, which can only be fixed with another application.
-
The application and polishing of Coat & Shine can be repeated several times. The number of applications depends on the desired level of shine and the expected wear on the surface.
The surface will feel dry to the touch within a few minutes. However, the final properties and water repellency of the polish will fully develop in 2–3 days
