Application
Mixing
Weight the component A (100 parts by weight)
Weight the component B / Catalyst (10 parts by weight)
Mix for 2-3 minutes; do not forget to scrape well brims and bottom of the container. Use a flat spatula and smooth brimmed container
Electric or pneumatic mixer can be used (working at low speed to limit the inclusion of air in the mixture)
Degassing
KAMSIL CM-30 is degassed itself at 20-23 °C and basically does not need to be degassed.
Anyway, for or the fast and perfect result you can additionally degas it to eliminate all entrapped air under vacuum pressure of 30 to 50 mbar. Under vacuum, the product will expand 3-4 times of its initial volume and forms bubble on its surface. These bubbles will disappear gradually and the mixture will sink back down to its initial volume within few minutes. Releasing the vacuum once ortwice during the operation will improve gas removal.
Making the molds
Gently pour the silicone over your model into mold housing.
Numerous models may be used to produce molds: wood, toys, concrete, metals, shells, all sorts of ornaments, etc. but care should be taken since crosslinking of Kamsil CM-30 may be inhibited by the contact of substances containing sulphur, copper, amines and tin salts. Inhibition causes the non-crosslinking of the elastomers in contact with the model. It is also possible to make your own model. In these cases, modelling clay or wood, paper or modelling pastes are often porous. A smooth varnish should be applied to close the pores of the model and give it a gloss finish.
Pour the silicone at least 0,5-1 cm over the top of the model.
Let it harden for 12-24 hours.
You can accelerate curing time by heating the silicon.
E.g.: curing time at 50°C will be 2 hours
